EMU, Chris Hadfield, STS 100

The Helmet Assembly

The head is made of milliput that I put on a resin base (which I previously made) that gives me the right proportion for a 1:12 human head.

For this piece I’ve chosen to represent the Canadian astronaut Chris Hadfield.

The head / Step 2: The Snoopy Hat is added at the exception of the microphones (they will be added after the painting is done).  The head was then sprayed with a primer and a base coat of acrylic paint was done.

The helmet base  is the trickiest part.  Since the visor is going to be clear, the interior as to be detailed also not leaving a lot of space for strengthening the whole helmet assembly.

The visor his made of vacuform clear plastic and the sub structure is (so far) made of left over plastic.

The head / Step 3 (helmet collar): The head and the helmet lower part are now placed on the body.
